We think spirituality is the path to reality. But here is the truth we avoid: spirituality, as we practice it, is just the mind’s most sophisticated escape. The ego did not die. It just went to an ashram. It put on softer clothes, learned to sit still, and started calling itself a seeker. But the seeking never stopped. The noise never stopped. We have to stop lying. We are not chasing truth. We are chasing safety, better feelings, and a story that makes us special. Reality has no story. Reality is the ground beneath all of it. Ordinary. Naked. Unimpressed by our retreats and our mantras. The mind cannot stand this, so it creates more spirituality. More methods. More becoming. But no method reaches the substratum.
