Why the Truth Feels Like Dying | Aswin Sundharam | Romancelovesophy

When we hear that there is no seer, no witness, no one who experiences anything, something inside us feels afraid. This fear does not come from nowhere. You see, the mind has always believed that it is the center of everything. It assumes that its own existence is equal to existence itself. So it carries this silent belief: “If I am not, nothing is.” Because of this, when it hears that there is no one, it feels like everything is about to end. But the truth is, the fear is not about nothing. The fear is about the mind losing itself. It cannot imagine existence without its presence, so it reacts with fear, as if it is facing death. This is why the feeling can become very strong. However, this fear is not a problem. It is the gateway. It appears only when the mind is close to its own end.
