Spiritual People Romanticize Illness

We have romanticized suffering. Called it a dark night of the soul. Given it spiritual permission to linger. But depression with a holy label is still depression. Same emptiness. Same isolation. Same loss of joy. The only difference is the story we tell ourselves. And a story is not reality. So let us stop pretending. The mind is a function of the brain. The brain is physical. When it breaks, we do not call it a gift. We do not wait for a divine dawn. We treat it. Sleep, food, movement, medicine, conversation. These heal wounds. Not poetry. Not endurance. Not the cult of pain. The dark night is not a teacher. It is a malfunction. Nothing holy. Nothing shameful. Just a fact. Call it depression. Treat it. And sit down. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #DarkNightOfTheSoul #DepressionAwareness
