We Have All The Answers, But We Don't Understand Anything

We have never had so much information, right? And yet, I sometimes feel that human beings understand less than ever. This sounds strange, does it not? A person living hundreds of years ago could spend his entire life without knowing what is happening on the other side of the world. Today, anyone can wake up in the morning, pick up a small piece of glass, and within seconds you can know what happened in another country; what a scientist discovered; what a politician said; what the weather is doing; what the financial markets are doing; what people are unnecessarily arguing about; what artificial intelligence thinks about all of us; whether AI is going to destroy humanity; or what new celebrities are gossiping about; and so on and so on, right?
We have more information than any human civilization has ever had. But here's the strange part: more information has not necessarily produced more understanding. Still, people talk about philosophers and not their message. Still, people are busy looking at the drama but not questioning what all these things are happening for. For me, this is one of the greatest ironies of modern life. Really, we solved the problem of not knowing, right? And then we created the problem of knowing too much.
You see, information and understanding are not the same thing. Information tells me that something happened. Understanding asks why it happened. Information tells me what someone said. Understanding asks what they meant, right? Information gives me 10,000 opinions. Understanding asks me whether any of them deserve my attention. That is how it is. And this is where the problem begins.
Imagine that I give you one glass of water. You can drink it. You will feel happy. Now imagine that I throw a thousand glasses of water at you every second. You will not become more hydrated. You will get more angry, and you will drown in the water that I give you. That is what I think we have done with information. We have mistaken abundance for nourishment. That's not true at all. We think that if something is available, we understand it. No, we do not.
Look at the world. So many people have spoken what I have spoken. I'm not talking about something new. But very less understanding, because that is where sincerity comes into the picture. Only those who are sincere can find their way. It really does not matter whom you follow, or what you follow, or which god you follow, or which devil you follow. What matters is sincerity. Wherever you place your sincerity, you will get the knowledge.
But I'm trying to make a point far deeper. Availability is not understanding also. I can search for the history of an entire country in 5 seconds. That does not mean I understand that country, right? I can read 50 articles about love. That does not mean I understand love. I can watch hundreds of videos about death. That does not mean I understand death. I can ask artificial intelligence to explain philosophy in 10 different ways. That does not mean I have philosophized, right? I have simply increased the amount of material passing through my head. That's all we all do.
Even spiritual people are like that. You know, one book, one more book, one more book, one more book, one more guru. They go on and go on and go on. They fill their head with so much knowledge that there is very little understanding. For understanding, there has to be peace, not information. The more peace you get through whatever you are doing, the more wisdom you get. That's how it is. And perhaps that is the tragedy: the modern human being is becoming very good at collecting answers without asking whether the question was ever understood.
And now AI has made this even stranger. Today, information can be generated almost endlessly. Text can be produced, images can be produced, videos can be produced, summaries can be produced, arguments can be produced, and so on and so on. We can manufacture information faster than we can examine it. And our mind does that. The moment someone talks so well, we immediately believe them. We immediately follow without questioning.
You know why questioning is important? Because it actually asks you to see the truth for yourself. Simply do not listen to me and follow me. Turn your mind within and see things for yourself. Only then will you see the truth. You might get wisdom by listening to me, but not the truth. You know what is the difference between wisdom and truth? Wisdom is the boat which helps you cross the ocean. Wisdom is like a boat which helps you navigate in the ocean. But having a boat does not mean you reach the destination. Having a ship does not mean you cross the ocean. That's how it is.
The thing is that the machine can produce 10,000 sentences before I have properly understood the first one, right? Researchers are now openly discussing the problem of AI overload. The issue is not simply that AI produces more information. It is that the volume, speed, interaction, and decision-making around AI can exceed our capacity to pay attention deliberately, and blah blah blah and so on and so on.
So the real shortage today is not information. The real shortage is digestion. We are getting more information, but we do not digest it. We listen to a lot of philosophers, debate about them. We praise this philosopher, that fellow, this fellow. people say, "You know how great this philosopher was.?" "You know how great he was.?" "Hey, he was more handsome than you." You know, all those things we do. But we never actually sit and assimilate their messages for ourselves.
What do we do? We listen more. We listen more. We hear more. We debate more. And those who do not listen to the philosophers that we love, we get angry. That's what we all do. But we never question their message. We have become information consumers who do not digest what we consume. That is the problem.
Enough with the entertainment. Now coming to the main message. You are not philosophy. You are not this pathetic mind. You are not the body. You are not spirituality. You are not your meditation. You are not this or that. You are your unblemished self-aware reality, which is the substratum of all, on which the entire drama of life is happening. This can be understood not by listening to me, not by following me, not by messaging me, not by mailing me, not by doing anything with me. This can be understood only when you turn your mind within and see things for yourself.
You are already divine. You are already awareness from day one. But you do not wish to see it. I'm telling from my own experience. We do not see the truth because we do not want to see the truth, because we have believed that we need a method. We need a guru. We need someone to show us the truth. And that's the problem. That is like a wave thinking, "I need some other wave to tell me that I'm ocean." It does not need another wave. You are already awareness, whether you like it or not.
But the one who searches, the one who meditates, the one who falls at the feet of a guru, the one who gets fooled by spirituality, is a creation of mind, not you. You are that unblemished awareness which watches the entire drama without getting involved in it. But what we do: we think the one who is involving is the one who is searching for the truth. It doesn't work like that. You are not searching for yourself. You are searching from yourself. Keep that in your mind. You're not looking for yourself. You're looking from yourself. You're already the awareness. All that you have to do is to just figure out who is this idiotic person in your head who wants to know the truth. That's all that needs to be done, because truth is already present. All that it requires of us is to see it as it is, without filtering it with our pathetic spiritual mind.
